The Australian School of Tourism and Hotel Management is a contracted provider or Registered Training Orgainsation of Apprenticeship Training for the Trade Cooking qualification.
Apprenticeships are a great way to build your career in the hospitality industry. They provide opportunities for either existing employees or new employees to gain a trade qualification whilst working in their chosen career without the need for fulltime study.
In fact the whole purpose of apprenticeships is to develop skills and knowledge through nationally recognised training that is employment based, supported by some "Off the Job" training.
An apprenticeship is traditionally a full time structured employment based training program over a period of four years. During this time apprentices will learn all aspects of their chosen trade.
Training combines both practical experience in the workplace with complimentary "off-the-job" training taking place one day per week at the Australian School of Tourism and Hotel Management.
Apprentices throughout their training will carry out a natural progression of completion of a number of Nationally Recognised units of competency required for trade recognition. Successful completion of both on- and off-the-job training and assessment leads an apprentice to becoming a qualified tradesperson.
There are a number of useful links on the WA Department of Training website for both Employers and Apprentices to view if you wish to know more about the value and process of completing an apprenticeship.
